TORONTO, March 9, 2020—In recognition of International Women’s Day (IWD), Vena Solutions, one of the fastest-growing providers of cloud-based financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software for corporate finance, is celebrating women+ in tech throughout March. Known for driving change internally and externally, Vena proactively looks for opportunities to recognize the achievements of women+ across the industry and to promote inclusivity, diversity and equality within the workplace.
The month-long campaign focusing on women and spearheaded by Network for Women (#N4W), Vena’s employee resource group that aims to amplify the voices of women+ in tech through mentorship, sponsorship and advocacy, will lead off with a series of women-focused events aimed to bridge its own community with others in the tech industry.
“We understand the challenges women+ face in the workplace and recognize the lack of representation of us in leadership positions,” says Shayenda Suyesh, Customer Success Operations Manager at Vena and one of the Co-Founders of #N4W. “The motivation behind N4W is to create opportunities for women+ to engage in open dialogue within our tech community, which includes our allies and sponsors as well. This is a space for us to come together to share our collective setbacks and successes and to ultimately create a real sense of community and solidarity.”
N4W’s first internal event of the year honouring the women of Vena will take place on Monday, March 9th at Vena’s headquarters located in Toronto’s west end tech hub. The celebrations will get going with a IWD card desk drop encouraging Vena employees to write thank you notes to any women, ally, supporter or sponsor to recognize them for their support, kindness or for generally being a good human. There will be a mid-afternoon social event with refreshments, flowers for women in attendance, a #N4W + #IWD photo booth, a Vision Board, a Black Women+ Magic History Discovery Session, as well as a Top Must-Read Book List By Women+ of Color.
N4W’s community is rapidly expanding and as Carrie Tanguay, N4W’s other co-founder and Vena’s Senior Director of Operations, says “It’s going beyond the walls of Vena”. The official launch of N4W’s own Instagram page @Network4Women will also take place on Monday, March 9th following #IWD2020.
“N4W is very appreciative of the support and sponsorship we get from Vena, however, we’ve recognized it’s a network with an independent and strong following and mission statement that has resonated in the GTA’s tech community,” says Tanguay. “Launching our own IG account is the latest step in giving women+ an additional space to share their stories and experiences,”
Throughout the rest of the month, N4W will continue to recognize women with a “Women in Vena” campaign highlighting the stories of women at Vena and sharing them within the company.
